The purpose of PAMS is to unite all Peruvian physicians practicing in the United States and other professionals interested in helping Peru, and to increase education through annual conventions held in different States, Puerto Rico and Peru. A breakthrough happened in 1979, during the VI Convention, under the Presidency of Dr. Alberto Zapata, when he chose Lima (Peru) for the meeting site. After this Convention, the horizons of the PAMS oraganization expanded and the objective became to improve the medical relationships between our country, Peru, and our adopted country, the United States, to help improve medical education for Peruvian medical schools and to provide help to Peruvian hospitals and indigent patients with donations and Medical Missions. Although some meetings were held in the United States and on three occasions in Spain, Mexico and Switzerland, most meetings are held in Peru to better fulfill our goals.
