Attached you will find a Video presentation with pictures that capture the tragedy endured by thousands of Peruvians as a consequence of an earthquake. The Peruvian American Medical Society has initiated a relief effort aimed to the reconstruction of health care facilities, any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated.
PRESS RELEASE
The Peruvian American Medical Society, a professional, scientific and philanthropic organization founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1973, has established a Relief Fund within our Endowment Fund to assist the victims of the recent earthquake that has affected a large territory south of the Capital City of Lima, Peru. The port city of Pisco has lost its basic infrastructure, with 80% of its houses being destroyed. Devastating damages have also being sustained in the cities of Chincha, Cañete and Ica. The death toll in the catastrophe is now exceeding 540. Our organization in partnership with International Relief Organizations such as Direct Relief International and Brother's and Brother will assist in restoring the medical infrastructure, particularly in hospitals and medical clinics that assist people with meager economical resources.
We appeal to our membership, our friends and individuals and organizations with altruistic spirit to help us in this relief effort. The Peruvian American Medical Society Endowment Fund is a charitable organization recognized as a 501 ( c ) entity by the Internal Revenue Service, all contributions to the fund are tax deductible. These are the two top Medals of Honor bestowed in Peru: The smaller oval medal is the " Orden del Sol" bestowed to PAMS in 1999 and accepted by Dr. Hector Bustamante. The larger one is the " Orden Paz Soldan" from the Peruvian Diplomatic Corps, bestowed in March 2007 to the best Peruvian Institution outside of Peru, and accepted by Dr. Ralph Kuon. There are very few, if any, organizations that may claim these two honors as we do. Please join us in improving even more.
