- Earthquake Relief is a project of the Endowment Fund to raise funds for the re-construction of a medical facility in the Chincha/Pisco area. - The award “Al Mérito del Servicio Diplomático del Perú José Gregorio Paz Soldán” has been given to PAMS by the Government of Peru for our work in the medical missions, on November 30, 2006.
- The Hispanic Health Leadership Award was given to PAMS on Saturday, March 24, 2007, in San Antonio Texas.
- Dr. Juan Angelats has established “The Juan Angelats Service Award” to be given to a physician that has demonstrated a patterned long-term behavior of service to the community. For questions about this award and its requirements contact Tim O’Hern at (708) 327-2707.
- There is an annual Valentine’s Day fund raising event, organized by the Michigan Chapter, to benefit the PAMS Medical Missions. This year, the party took place on February 10, 2007. For tickets and information for the 2008 event contact Dr. Nora del Busto: delbustonora_md@hotmail.com

- Dr. Carlos J. Sanchez has received the 2006 Ethnic Physician Leadership Award for his outstanding contribution to the care and well being of ethnic communities, particularly communities in Peru and Chula Vista, California. Dr. Sanchez has donated the $1,000.00 award to PAMS for our programs of help to Peru.
- Twenty years ago PAMS members Dr. Anibal Pepper and Dr. Guido Lozada helped Dr. Carlos Galdo of Arequipa start the Burn Unit at the Hospital Honorio Delgado in Arequipa, Peru. PAMS Illinois Chapter and Wisconsin Chapters have contributed economically, professionally and materially for the daily operation of this unit. This Burn Unit is one of the best in Peru, has treated more than 2,000 seriously burned patients, and is a source of multiple research papers by students of the San Agustin Medical School. - With the model of this successful Burn Unit, Dr. Alberto Otero and the Illinois PAMS Chapter have just helped to create a new burn unit at the Hospital Regional in Iquitos, Peru, which was inaugurated on December 13, 2004. - During the Medical Mission to Ayacucho, Peru, on June, 2004, psychiatric services were provided and a permanent mission was organized with the establishment of a Mental Health Clinic, with the collaboration of Sister Anne Carbone, missionary of the Columban Sisters. - The World Heart Foundation, a foundation that promotes cardiac outreach services for developing countries, has registered the PAMS Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at Hospital Dos de Mayo in Lima, Perú, as one of its affiliates. Their Web site is www.world-heartorg
